HRC Human Rights Council

Hail, dear delegates, judges, and advocates!

My name is Ethan Chang, a sophomore at Asia American International Academy, and it is my utmost honor to serve as your President. Alongside with Chloe Chen, we warmly welcome you in joining us in the Human Right Council of DISMUN IX this year! I have been participating in Model United Nations since 2025 and this conference will mark my ninth conference and first time in HRC. 

My first experience in MUN was in STMUN XVI’s UNICEF, and it was not particularly as pleasant as I would’ve imagined since I was completely clueless and trying to latch onto anything I could understand. This primary experience has been a humiliating experience for me and has fueled my drive to perform to my best and become whatever these UN diplomat were doing at a ripe age of sixteen—my first step being to step out of my comfort zone and start being more proactive and assertive, which is not easy in an unfamiliar realm with a different order. Looking back, I hope I can be the mentor I needed before my first MUN. Thus, I hope I can be able to be a great mentor to you and that we can find some room for some fun as well in the committee in HRC and as well as outside of MUN ;)

For leisure, I really enjoy fencing, playing my violin with other people in the orchestra, binging Netflix series/anime, and as well as playing volleyball with friends! Greetings delegates! My name is Chloe Chen, a rising sophomore at IBST (International Bilingual School at Tainan Science Park). It is my utmost honor to serve as your deputy president of HRC in this year’s DISMUN!
I joined MUN in the 7th grade and this will mark my 11th MUN conference and first time chairing. Like many others, I began my journey in middle school, and ever since, I have incorporated aspects of MUN into my everyday life. Through each conference, I have enhanced my public speaking skills, learned how to research and view global issues from diverse perspectives, and met many incredible people who share a passion for debate and diplomacy. Whether you are attending your very first conference or already an experienced delegate, I implore you to challenge yourself in every session, speaking with confidence and fostering fruitful debate among your fellow delegates.

Outside of MUN, I enjoy math, economics, taking polaroids, playing go, volleyball, and watching anime.
