Hi everyone! My name is Julian, and my MUN journey began at DISMUN. My first conference was both thrilling and nerve-wracking, and I remember leaving unsure of myself and wondering if MUN was really for me. As I continued participating, however, I realized that MUN was more than just an activity. It gave me the opportunity to express my ideas, explore different perspectives, and grow in confidence and leadership. Outside of MUN, I also enjoy acting, which has helped me become more comfortable with speaking, presenting, and thinking on my feet.
Now, as the Deputy Secretary-General of DISMUN and a Crisis Committee chair, I am excited to help create the same welcoming environment that encouraged me to continue with MUN. I hope to make my committee engaging and approachable, while giving delegates the freedom to think creatively, take risks, and adapt to unexpected situations. Having started my own MUN journey at DISMUN, I hope to make this conference a memorable experience for every delegate. Deputy President: Sophia Chang
Hello everyone! My name is Sophia, a sophmore at Hsinchu County American School. It’s my utmost honor to serve as the Deputy President of Crisis at DISMUN IX. I first joined MUN in seventh grade, and over the years, it has become one of the highlights of my high school experience. MUN has not only helped me develop my public speaking, teamwork, and global awareness, but has also introduced me to so many incredible people from different schools. Outside of MUN, I enjoy fencing, horseback riding, and spending time with friends, as well as watching movies and listening to music.
For this conference, I hope you'll all feel comfortable speaking up and sharing your ideas with other. Beyond debating, I also hope it’s a fun and meaningful weekend where you can meet new people and learn something new! Greetings Delegate,
My name is Nero Ho. I’m a sophomore studying at American school in Taichung and it is my extreme honor to be serving as your crisis director for this year’s Dismun alongside Julian, Sophia, and Sophie Luna. Dismun ix would mark my 15th conference at the time of writing this and I can truly say it has been a blast. Crisis has always been one of my favorite committees; the fast pace debate process and the sudden random changes have truly intrigued me so I hope that it would be the same for you as well. Outside of the committee room I enjoy playing volleyball, tennis, and watching mockumentary shows like abbot elementary and modern family. Director: Sophie Luna
Hello everyone! My name is Sophie Luna, a sophomore at Dominican International School Taipei, and I am incredibly honored to be able to serve as your CRISIS Director for this years conference. I have been doing MUN since sixth grade, reluctantly, but I quickly grew to love MUN. I found a great sense of resonance in investigating global issues and finding solutions for problems that are happening all around us, and now it is one of the things that I cherish the most. I grew from being a quiet, confused delegate, to one that isn’t afraid to voice out her opinions, solutions, and values. I grew to learn the importance of student officers who were there to truly and readily support you in your journey; so, I hope to be that for you all. MUN is so much more than formal procedures, debating, and writing resolutions. It’s a place where I–and the many friends who I have met through this– have learned to care about their world and their voice in it.
I wish that this conference will reshape your perspective on MUN from being an intimidating, academic simulation where everyone feels afraid of one another, to an opportunity to embarrass yourself. Yes, embarrass, because you have to try new things, make mistakes, and feel awkward to learn and get better.
Anywho, besides MUN, I love reading, cooking, playing volleyball, and–most importantly–eating yogurt. I also spend my dancing bachata with my family and learning history, so feel free to come talk to me about literally anything.
